Just like the relentless ganados that stalk Leon throughout his adventure, Resident Evil 4 just won’t stop coming. As a result, we’re pleased to share that the terrifying VR reimagining from Armature Studio and Oculus Studios, in partnership with Capcom, has once again secured another accolade. Today, Resident Evil 4 on Meta Quest 2 was named the Best Extended Reality Game at the Develop:Star Awards at Develop:Brighton.

This award is described as being awarded to a game that offers “the best overall experience, including gameplay, immersion, innovation, and originality” with judges focusing specifically on innovation, creativity, and technical achievement. The talented teams at Armature, Oculus Studios, and Capcom can add this Develop:Star Award to their list of accomplishments, alongside The Game Awards, SXSW Gaming, and New York Game Awards.

In Resident Evil 4, you step into the shoes of Leon S. Kennedy as a special agent for the U.S. government on his mission to rescue the US President’s daughter who has been kidnapped by a mysterious cult, now in first-person VR for the very first time. Find your way through a rural European village, come face to face with challenging enemies, and uncover secrets and gameplay that have revolutionized the entire survival horror genre. Battle horrific creatures infected by the Las Plagas parasite and face off against aggressive enemies including mind-controlled villagers as you discover their connection to Los Illuminados, the cult behind the abduction.

It’s a thrilling adventure that takes on all-new life (pun intended) now that’s realized in VR. For more insight into the harrowing adventure, don’t forget to check out our hands-on impressions for details on what it’s like to embody the iconic hero and listen to our in-depth interview with Tom Ivey, Lead Producer for Resident Evil 4 on Quest 2, which aired on That Other Gaming Podcast.

IGN gave Resident Evil 4 on Quest 2 a 9 out of 10 in its review, dubbing it “one of the best versions” of the critically-acclaimed classic. And then earlier this year The Mercenaries released as a free update to the game this year, expanding the adventure by putting players in intense matches against a never-ending horde of Ganados to earn points before time runs out and the evacuation chopper arrives.

If you haven’t tried Resident Evil 4 in VR on Quest 2 yet, you can enter the nightmare for yourself right now for $39.99 USD.
